Newcastle Police charge 43yo after Elermore Vale home sprayed with bullets

An arsenal of guns and a NSW Police baseball cap have been seized by police after a man was arrested and stands accused of spraying a home with bullets in Newcastle last month.
In a pre-dawn incident on January 29, police were called to an Elermore Vale home following reports shots were fired into the dwelling.
Newcastle Police found projectiles had struck the front of the Lake Rd home and a vehicle. No one was injured in the alleged shooting.
Strike Force Balgo detectives launched an investigation and more than one week later, a 43-year-old man was arrested in Newcastle.
Officers also raided a home in Bar Beach and seized five firearms including two rifles, two pistols and a gel blaster machine gun, various firearms parts, ammunition and a NSW Police issued baseball cap.
A silver Holden Commodore Utility was also seized, with all items to be forensically examined.
The 43-year-old is facing 15 offences including fire firearm at dwelling house with disregards for safety, possession of unregistered firearms, not keeping firearms safely, ammunition possession and acquiring firearms without authority.
He’s also been charged with drug possession, goods in custody and wearing a police uniform when not a police officer.
He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Friday.
