Warning: This story contains descriptions of graphic domestic violence.

Parolee Tyrone Thompson had just brutally stabbed his former girlfriend at least 78 times in less than three minutes using two kitchen knives when emergency services arrived and he began complaining about a wound to his hand.

Agreed facts tendered after Thompson pleaded guilty to Mackenzie Anderson’s murder in the NSW Supreme Court on Tuesday have revealed horrific details of the young mum’s last attempts to flee the grasp of a former lover who had only been released from prison 16 days prior for domestic violence offences against her.

The statement of facts, which Thompson signed before his guilty plea to murder on Tuesday, also reveal how 21-year-old Mackenzie had predicted him killing her before his incessant messages saw him re-enter her life.

The facts state that Thompson told a detective at the scene that the pair had a “heated argument” and then: “she [had] a f--king knife ... And then I’ve literally just grabbed the knife, and I just f--kin stabbed, stabbed, stabbed, stabbed ... and just jumped on her head, that’s all that’s happened”.

And it also paints a picture of Thompson right after police officers find Ms Anderson’s bloodied body on the landing area of her Mayfield unit, with the then 22-year-old yelling words to the effect of: “Help me! She’s dead!”, the facts said.

“Police told him to be quiet so he could determine if she was breathing,” the facts said.

“The offender yelled, “I’m bleeding out everywhere. Man, can you please help my blood pressure? Officer, can you help my blood pressure please? I’m pissing out blood”.

“Police ignored him as they were attending to the deceased.”

The facts said the pair had had a two-year relationship which had been “marred by domestic violence” before Thompson was jailed in 2021 for assaulting and intimidating Ms Anderson.

After Thompson was released on parole on March 9, 2022, Ms Anderson had “expressed concerns” to multiple friends that she was “scared [Thompson] was going to kill her”.

Despite signing a fresh condition on an ADVO before being released preventing him from contacting Ms Anderson, Thompson began messaging her immediately.

It included a phone call as soon as he was released saying “he was coming for her and that he loved her”, the agreed facts stated.

Even when Ms Anderson blocked two social media accounts which Thompson was using to contact her, he would start again with a new account.

By March 19, Thompson was messaging the ex-girlfriend of Ms Anderson’s new flame, including one message which read: “I miss what [the new boyfriend] took from me.”

Later that day, Ms Anderson had sent a friend an image of her and Thompson together, stating they were heading to his home on the Central Coast.

Over the next five days, the pair remained in each other’s company for extended periods.

The pair travelled back to Newcastle the day before the murder, in the company of one of Ms Anderson’s male friends.

On the day of the murder, Thompson and the male friend bought vodka – despite Thompson being banned from alcohol as part of his parole conditions – and the trio began drinking at Ms Anderson’s unit.

The trio had earlier smoked some cannabis.

By 6.48pm, Thompson had sent a message to Ms Anderson’s recent boyfriend – they had broken up for another reason after Thompson was released – which read: “I’m bigger than you lol”.

Thompson also sent the young man a photograph of himself inside Ms Anderson’s bedroom and rang him several times.

The former boyfriend contacted Ms Anderson’s mother.

By 7.56pm, Thompson was yelling down the phone to one of Ms Anderson’s friends before cuddling up to his former girlfriend, telling her he loved her and that she did not appreciate him.

He had consumed two vodka sodas.

The facts state by 8.27pm, Ms Anderson had asked Thompson to leave before texting her male friend, who was still in the unit: “don’t leave me alone w him here lol.”

Almost 40 minutes later, Thompson was seen to move knives around the kitchen before placing a large knife on the kitchen bench.

The facts said he did not say anything or threaten anything at that stage, but had whispered to Ms Anderson that he did not like the friend being there.

By 9.30pm, Ms Anderson had asked her friend to get Thompson out of the unit. The pair walked away before Thompson took another route.

Thompson was back at her house by 10.10pm, using a ladder to climb up to her second storey balcony and entering using a back sliding door.

The facts state that Thompson then sent Ms Anderson’s mother, Tabitha Acret, multiple messages using Ms Anderson’s phone.

He also tried to call her several times, though Ms Acret told him she did not wish to speak to him and the pair should not be in contact.

The male friend returned and Thompson was again asked to leave. He ran off with a set of keys.

By 10.40pm, Ms Anderson made several calls to triple-0, with Thompson being heard in the background.

Included in her calls, Ms Anderson told the operator: “my ex-boyfriend’s broken in. I’ve woken up to him in my house. Like, I have AVO on him” and “he came at me with a knife” before adding “[he may have a knife still] because there was two that he had out [and] only one of them’s here”.

Five minutes later, Ms Anderson messaged a friend stating: “I’ve just woken up to Tyrone breaking in”, “he came at me with a knife” and “he’s still a f--king freak”.

She also sent Thompson’s mother messages.

By 10.48pm, Ms Anderson sent her male friend a message: “tyrones back” before the friend started running back to the unit.

Neighbours would later tell authorities that they saw and heard an argument, including one who heard a male voice yell “f--k yeah” very loudly before they saw Ms Anderson between some blinds and a window for 10 to 12 seconds.

“The deceased had both of her hands up and she was hitting the window with both her fists clenched,” the agreed statement of facts said.

“She looked like she was trying to break the window. She looked terrified.”

The male friend arrived and tried to get in the door, which appeared jammed. He pushed it ajar and saw Ms Anderson lying on the ground and Thompson standing over her repeatedly stabbing her.

“[Thompson] was not saying anything,” the facts said.

Thompson would bash on a neighbour’s door and yelled he had been stabbed while standing next to the body of his ex-girlfriend.

Police arrived and started trying to treat Ms Anderson as Thompson yelled out he needed treatment.

Thompson later complained to paramedics of being weak and numb before he was taken to hospital where it was found several tendons had been cut in his fingers consistent which an injury from a sharp blade.

No arteries had been nicked or severed.

Before being taken to hospital Thompson was cautioned by police before telling them: “we just got into a heated argument about her mum harassing us, right? .. she [had] a f--king knife ... And then I’ve literally just grabbed the knife, and I just f--kin stabbed, stabbed, stabbed, stabbed ... and just jumped on her head, that’s all that’s happened”.

Thompson would later tell a psychiatrist that Ms Anderson had grabbed a knife, Thompson tried to grab it before the knife slipped and slashed him.

And he would tell another physician that they had a heated argument in Ms Anderson’s bedroom while she had the knife, before he grabbed the knife and “started stabbing her and stabbing her...”

The facts said prosecutors “cannot disprove” that Ms Anderson had hold of a knife while the pair argued, nor that Thompson had been injured as he tried to “disarm” Ms Anderson.

Thompson will face a sentence hearing later this month.
