A woman who was jailed for killing a female pedestrian while speeding and on methamphetamine has been arrested allegedly behind the wheel while still being disqualified from driving – and has allegedly failed another drug test.

Katie Holmes was arrested on the New England Highway near Singleton on Saturday before allegedly testing positive for methamphetamine.

The 31-year-old did produce a Queensland driver’s licence despite a NSW District Court judge banning her from driving until October 28, 2027.

Holmes was jailed after a jury found her guilty of dangerous driving occasioning the death of Anne Bourke on February 15, 2020.

Ms Bourke was attempting to cross Main Rd at Heddon Greta about 10.50pm when Holmes’ Mazda struck and killed her.

Experts told her trial that Holmes was estimated to be travelling up to 94km/h in a 60lm/h zone and tests later revealed she had methamphetamine and amphetamine in her system.

She faced a trial and was found guilty in July 2022 before being sentenced to a maximum of three years and three months in jail with a non-parole period of 21 months.

Her earliest release date was April 28 this year.

It is understood Holmes had driven from Scone before Singleton police stopped her at Whittingham on Saturday morning.

She was arrested for disqualified driving and taken to Singleton police station where she allegedly tested positive for methamphetamine during an oral drug test.

Police will await further tests before determining whether to charge her over the alleged positive drug test.

Holmes faced Newcastle Bail Court on Sunday on the disqualified driving charge and was not required to enter a plea.

She made a successful release application and was granted conditional bail to appear in Scone Local Court on September 11.

Some of those conditions include Holmes reporting to Scone police station three days a week, not drink or take drugs and not occupy the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle.

Holmes was also required to enter an agreement to forfeit $1000 if she failed to keep her bail conditions, as well as an acceptable person to agree to forfeit $5000.
