A witness in the murder trial of young mum Danielle Easey has admitted to the jury she lied about her now ex-boyfriend being shown a dead body.

Again taking the stand in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday, Vanessa Burns — friend of both accused Justin Kent Dilosa and Carol Marie McHenry — said she didn’t want to disclose that she knew Jeremy Princehorn — her then boyfriend — had been shown Ms Easey’s dead body, instead saying she couldn’t recall what the situation was.

She also admitted to lying about calling the Narara home of McHenry, where investigators say Ms Easey was allegedly killed, a “scarey f**king place” because it “looked very eerie” and had been subject to previous home invasions.

Instead she confirmed, she knew it was where Ms Easey was allegedly stabbed to death.

“Is it because you knew the correct answer as to why you referred to it as a scary place because you knew Ms Easey had been killed,” McHenry’s defence barrister Anthony Evers questioned.

“Yes it is. I wasn’t trying to protect anybody,” Ms Burns answered.

“So you thought it was appropriate to lie in this court,” Mr Evers said.

Dilosa, 34, and former partner McHenry, 33, are on trial after they both pleaded not guilty to the horrific murder of the young mum more than three years ago.

It’s alleged Ms Easey was stabbed to death in the Narara home on August 17, 2019 before her body was wrapped in plastic and two weeks later dumped at Cockle Creek near Killingworth, west of Newcastle, where she was later found by a passing motorist.

In the alternate, McHenry has entered a plea of guilty to a charge of accessory after the fact, accepting she did assist Dilosa after he had killed Ms Easey, claiming she was scared to go to police of what he would do.

Ms Burns also disclosed to the jury that she had a “nasty exchange” with McHenry after she had said something “unforgivable” about her kids and had showed no loyalty.

She was also asked if she was still angry and hurt with her friend when she told police about McHenry being involved in drug supply and Ms Easey’s murder.

“So you lied to police to get back at her,” Mr Evers asked.

“No,” Ms Burns replied, “she said that to me”.

“You don’t refer to her as a murderer, even though she cut you to the core,” Mr Evers said.

The jury also heard Ms Burns had been told about a list of names Ms Easey had which could bring down people or expose them.

She also admitted to having received a text message from Dilosa which read, “What I did, ultimately was to keep those kids safe and half Newcastle and CC from going to jail or killing each other”.

Ms Burns was also questioned about text messages she had sent to her then boyfriend Mr Princehorn.

“Sending text messages to Jeremy that he was involved, believing they would be read by police, did they fit your moral code, you knew it was wrong but you did it anyway,” Mr Evers said, to which she replied, “yes”.

The trial continues.
