Police have made a dramatic arrest after a teenager allegedly pulled a firearm and threatened people in a busy public carpark in suburban Newcastle.

A teenager is facing a raft of firearm offences after allegedly threatening two people with a gun in a suburban public carpark.
Police said they were called to the KFC carpark on Blue Gum Rd at Jesmond about 4.30pm on Tuesday following “reports of an armed man”.
“Upon arrival, police were told that a man had threatened two people – that were known to him – with a firearm and fled the scene,” police said in a statement.
No one was injured.
Investigations led police to a property on Maitland Rd at Mayfield West where they arrested an 18-year-old man and allegedly seized a gel-blaster firearm.
Jayden Harwood was taken to Waratah police station where he was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing an unauthorised firearm, two counts of armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of intimidation, two counts of common assault (DV) and affray.
Harwood faced Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday where he was refused bail to reappear on January 9.
