A gunman wearing a motorcycle helmet as camouflage has threatened staff during a terrifying late-night armed robbery of a suburban Newcastle business.

Police were called to Domino’s Pizza on Regent St at New Lambton about 10.15pm on Sunday following reports of the hold-up.

Staff told police the man entered the restaurant and threatened an employee with the gun and demanded money before fleeing with cash.

The 23-year-old male employee was not physically injured.

Newcastle City detectives have started an investigation and have released a description of the suspect.

He is described as being of thin build, approximately 170-180cm tall and was wearing a black motorcycle helmet, white t-shirt over a black jumper, black pants, white sneakers with a blue trim, black gloves, and carrying a brown bag.

Police urge anyone able to identify the man, or with information, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The armed robbery comes less than two weeks after another Domino’s store was targeted in an armed robbery.

A man armed with a sword targeted the Swansea shop of the chain on January 31 in what is believed to be an unrelated incident.
