Charges against the son of retired Federal Labor MP Joel Fitzgibbon have now been dropped, after he was accused of exposing himself on the dancefloor of a popular Newcastle pub.
Jack Fitzgibbon, 32, was charged with sexually touching a person without consent and behaving in an offensive manner after the alleged incident at the Exchange Hotel, Hamilton, in the early hours of November 7, 2021.
Police had alleged he was with another man when they walked onto the dancefloor and approached a group of four women they did not know, before Fitzgibbon allegedly exposed himself and rubbed his penis against one of the women.
Security was called and he was allegedly asked to leave the Beaumont St pub.
Following an investigation Fitzgibbon was slapped with the two charges.
In March last year, the 32-year-old pleaded not guilty to both charges and the matters were set to go to a hearing on Monday.
But at Newcastle Local Court Thursday last week, the charges were dropped and dismissed by police, with the matter now closed.
Jack Fitzgibbon is the son of the former Labor Member for Hunter and former defence minister Joel Fitzgibbon, who retired for politics in April last year after more than 25 years in parliament.
