An 80-year-old man has died in hospital after emergency services were called to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car in suburban Lake Macquarie.

An elderly man has died in hospital after emergency services were called to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car in suburban Lake Macquarie.
Authorities rushed to Croudace Bay Rd at Valentine about 6.30am on Wednesday following reports that the pedestrian had been hit.
“Officers attended along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, who treated the pedestrian, an 80-year-old man,” police said in a statement.
“He was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he later died.
“The driver of the car, a man aged 77, was taken to Belmont Hospital for mandatory testing.”
A crime scene was established and examined by officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District.
