A former Hunter teacher has been charged over alleged historic sexual offences dating almost 40 years.
Port Stephens-Hunter detectives commenced an investigation in January into reports that a teacher in the Raymond Terrace area had allegedly sexually assaulted two boys aged between 14 and 15 in the 1980s.
A police statement said detectives would allege in court that “the teacher allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage boy while he was teaching him to ride a motorbike on a property in Clarence Town”.
“Another boy was also allegedly sexually assaulted by the man at the same location,” the statement said.
Following extensive inquiries by police, an 84-year-old Clarence Town man was issued a future court attendance notice on Monday for three counts of sexual assault of a person under 16 years of age.
He is due to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court on July 28.
