Adam Koina pleaded guilty to having sexual intercourse with an underage girl

A New Lambton man made “full and frank” admissions to police that he knew a girl was 13-years-old when they started up a sexual relationship.

The family of a New Lambton man who was charged for having sex with a 13-year-old girl sobbed in court and yelled “love you” as he was put into handcuffs and taken into custody.

Adam John Koina, now 29, made “full and frank” admissions to police that he knew the young girl was underage when they started up a consensual sexual relationship in 2014.

Police facts said the girl had become pregnant at the age of 14 and that Koina had accompanied her for a termination because “he felt he had a responsibility to”.

Court documents also revealed that throughout the course of their relationship the pair had developed an interest in daddy dom/little girl fetishes, where they shared an online blog called ‘to-my-sir-with-love’.

Surround by family and friends, Koina fronted Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual intercourse with a child.

As Magistrate Caleb Franklin adjourned the matter until next month for a sentence date to be fixed, his bail was revoked and he was immediately taken into custody.

Police facts detailed how the pair struck up a sexual relationship in February 2014, months after becoming friends.

Following a pregnancy scare, the girl went to see a GP, who reported the relationship to the Department of Community Services.

It prompted an investigation by the Child Abuse Squad (CAS) but police facts said the girl did not wish for the matter to proceed.

Koina was immediately contacted by CAS detectives and warned about the relationship, but despite it ending there, the pair reunited a short time later and continued their sexual relationship until she was 16.

Police facts detailed how when the girl was 14, she received a positive pregnancy test at the Calvary Mater Hospital and that Koina had accompanied her in terminating the pregnancy shortly after.

Police later obtained a search warrant and obtained samples from the termination which confirmed DNA matched the pair.

But it wasn’t until October 2019, the girl came forward to police and asked for the investigation to recommence, which saw police initiate a covert operation.

It was in January 2021 the pair again met up and as police listened, Koina made admissions to knowing the girl was 13 at the time they started having sex, according to police facts.

Koina was arrested and charged in April this year.
