FERRY commuters who use Meadowbank Wharf will need to make alternative arrangements next week while it is closed for works.
There will be no ferries at Meadowbank from May 5 to 25 as works continue for the new wharf.
Transport for NSW said workers will remove some existing wharf structures, upgrade the waiting area and fit out the new wharf.
The new wharf will open on May 26, weather permitting.
Commuters will walk along a gangway from the existing structure to a new floating pontoon.
The new layout will provide more protection from the weather, improved safety and seating, and better access for people with disabilities.
The 200 commuters who use the wharf each day and requiring alternative transport during the closure can walk to Meadowbank station.
They may also board the 513 bus at the wharf, which travels to Victoria Rd and connecting buses.
The wharf works are part of transport improvements along the Parramatta River which have included new ferries and additional services.
