A MAN working in a female dominated profession has claimed the top nurses honour at Ryde Hospital.
Enrolled nurse Ciaran McCloughan received The Nurse 2016 award for outstanding performance after being nominated by his peers on International Nurses Day earlier this month.
Mr McCloughan is known for his brilliant sense of humour and ability to show compassion and understanding in times of need, a hospital spokeswoman said.
His maturity, and ability to detect a deteriorating patient and respond also won the respect of his peers.
Mr McCloughan has worked at the hospital since 2004.
Recipients of other awards were Deborah Simont (Living Our Values Everyday), Noreen Cronin (new nurse), Sharon Watson and Nyarai Mudzingwa (nurse), Leah Whitton (senior nurse) and the ward 7 medical ward (nurse team).
