SUPER Saturday’s giant Garage Sale Trail is just around the corner – and Rouse Hill residents are jumping on the bandwagon.
This year’s event will see a record-breaking 10,000 sales run across the nation on Saturday, October 24, and the Garage Sale Trail concept has been launched in the UK. Within a 10km radius of Rouse Hill, at least 105 households have decided to open their own garage sales, offering everything from Phantom comics to vintage clothing, antiques and railway sleepers.
At Beaumont Hills, the Jones family in Stratheden Ave has decided to combine the accumulated goods of four households to pull together a mega sale.
Terina Jones said her sister, parents and friend Gretl Willett have decided to get together on the act, so they now will offer an eclectic range of China dolls, sporting goods, solid dining suites, camping equipment and scholastic textbooks.
“We’ve had garage sales before, but this is great, it really stimulates a lot of extra interest,” Ms Jones said.
“The organisers have given us posters and there’s the online map for people – there’s a great marketing power in it. It’s all free so it makes a lot of sense to combine forces.”
With her children growing up, she found herself with a lot of spare toys, books and sporting goods.
At her home in Garfield Rd East, Riverstone, Irene Selmes is selling a wooden artist’s easel, framed prints by John Lovett and an original pastel by noted local artist Taryn Malzard.
