IT is often the small acts of a kindness that make a big difference.
On June 15, as part of DoSomething Day, staff at Castle Hill RSL will volunteer for a working bee at Tallowood School in Kellyville.
The RSL volunteers will work in the garden and animal farm at the school, which caters to children with intellectual disabilities.
They will be joined by staff from the Hills Shire Times whose parent company, NewsLocal newspapers, launched DoSomething Day to encourage everybody to pitch in and do something positive in their community.
DoSomething Day ambassador Nathan Hindmarsh, from Glenhaven, said he was a big fan of the initiative.
“I think it’s a great idea,” he said.
“We can get a bit robotic — we go to work, come home, do it all again the next day — this is a chance to do something different and help someone else.”
Castle Hill RSL group marketing manager Melanie Morson said the club was proud to be a long term supporter of Tallowood School.
“Each year our team fundraises for Tallowood through our annual Rattle N Hum Car Show, we believe that everyone in the Hills community can give back and make a difference in their community on
DoSomething Day,” she said.
Tallowood School principal Carol Robson said the RSL and NewsLocal’s support was very generous.
“There’s always something to be done,” she said.
To get involved is easy. Help someone out or do a good deed for the community and upload photos and videos using the hashtags #DoSomethingDay and #giveyourbest.
