Shoppers at Stanhope Village are being greeted with a giant shoebox this month.

The Share My Shoes initiative is aimed at raising funds for The Smith Family’s Learning For Life program, which provides educational support to disadvantaged young Australians.

The shoebox, located near the Commonwealth Bank, will collect shoes which will be resold through The Smith Family’s shops. All the money raised will then be put towards the Smith Family’s Learning for Life program.

Stanhope Village’s new marketing manager Lisa Curtin said for those who did not have a spare pair of shoes to give or could not bear the thought of parting with their old favourites, all Mirvac centres across Australia would donate $1 to the Smith Family for every shoe picture posted on social media alongside the hashtag #sharemyshoes.

“To get the creative juices flowing, fun floor murals will be located throughout the centre, providing a range of inspiring backdrops for shoppers to showcase their favourite shoes with friends and family on social media,’’ Mrs Curtin said.

The Smith Family’s head of fundraising Rosie Simpson said by donating shoes shoppers could help create a better future for disadvantaged young people.
