World’s Greatest Shave: Boy cuts hair for Leukaemia Foundation

AFTER enduring more than two years of teasing about looking like a girl, one six-year-old boy was brave and shaved for charity.

Cooper Pamment endured more than two years of being called a girl for having long hair.

But on Friday he had it cut as part of the World’s Greatest Shave.

Cooper’s mother Kylie said he grew his hair long because his best friend had long hair.

“He started growing it to look like (comic/movie character) Thor,” she said.

“From there, he just kept growing it because his best friend had long hair.

“He decided he was going to donate it to a little girl for wigs, so from there we had to wait until it was long enough.”

Ms Pamment, of East Hills, said the six-year-old needed to have about 25cm to 30cm to donate to the Leukaemia Foundation for wigs but had grown probably closer to 50cm.

“He has been bullied for the hair — he’s been called a girl,” she said. “But he stuck with it because he knows, at the end of the day, it’s going to someone in need.”

After Jel’z Barber Shop owner Michael Nagi finished cutting Cooper’s hair at the Dulwich Hill salon, leaving him with a spiky ’do any youngster would be proud of, his whole family was amazed.

Cooper has raised $3218.10, more than his goal of $3000, but is accepting more donations.
