A TikTok personality and amateur MMA fighter has been banned from social media after he was found with a counterfeit iPhone and bags, wads of cash and cocaine.

Castro Saleh, 19, appeared before Bankstown Local Court on January 9 via audiovisual link wearing a domestic violence charity shirt from Lighthouse Community Services as his parents gathered in the courtroom.

Saleh was arrested on January 8 and taken to Campsie police station where he was charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception, using a class A vehicle number plate obscured or defaced and dealing with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000.

The Punchbowl man was also charged with possessing a prohibited drug, goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen and owner not disclosing the identity of driver or passenger.

Saleh is popular on Tiktok for his live streams – including his longest stream totalling totalling between 18 to 20 hours – where he “battles” other TikTok stars and is sent virtual gifts worth hundreds of dollars.

The 19-year-old also previously fought in the Urban Fight Night MMA competition in September last year where he lost to Oshane Perera.

Court documents allege Saleh had a counterfeit iPhone 15 Pro Max at Condell Park on January 8 to “dishonestly obtain a financial advantage of $1,300”.

He was also found with $900 cash, 1.4g of cocaine and counterfeit bags police allege were “stolen or otherwise unlawfully obtained”.

Saleh’s lawyer Mr Searson said his client’s “continued incarceration is no longer justified” as he is seeing a psychologist and his mother could guarantee a $2300 surety “if there is a concern he will not attend court”.

“The shirt he’s (Saleh) is wearing is a community organisation he volunteers for … which shows he has ties to the community,” Mr Searson said.

Mr Searson said at the time of his client’s arrest he had been on bail since September last year on an unrelated charge and had committed “no breaches apart from the alleged new offences”.

Magistrate Glenn Walsh took into account Saleh’s young age and said strict bail conditions – including banning him from using Facebook Marketplace and social media platforms, using drugs or alcohol and reporting daily to Bankstown police station – would mitigate any concerns and granted Saleh bail.

Saleh’s two matters will return to court in February and March.
