Big things are in store for Birrong athlete Ahmad Kamaledine, if his current record of achievement is anything to go by.
The 12-year-old has just qualified for this year’s state Oztag team — the Wolves — which will be competing in a national tournament in Coffs Harbour in October.
Ahmad also plays rugby league, representing the under-12 Bankstown Bulls side.
Demonstrating talent, determination and good sportsmanship, the youngster has shone under his mentors.
His coach, Joe Saukuru, pointed to his strong work ethic.
“Ahmad has worked hard all year to bring his game to where it is now. He works hard away from training which shows he has a good support unit at home. He’s a very good listener and applies himself maturely,” Mr Saukuru said.
“Because of his dedication, discipline and hard work he has widened his opportunities and has now made the state Oztag team.”
Ahmad’s mother Aroha Kamaledine said her son had a lot of potential.
“He always puts 100 per cent and I can see huge things in his future,” she said.
Ahmad is The Express’s latest nominee for the Junior Sports Star award, sponsored by Rebel.
