Picnic Point Pumas were frustratingly close to taking out Bankstown City Netball Association’s grand final on Saturday.
But the top spot was just out of reach, with Chipping Norton crowned division one champions after a 33-30 victory.
It was a finish that characterised many of the grand final matches at Deverall Park.
“There were a lot of close games with just a few goals in it,” president of Bankstown City Netball Wayne Chesterton said.
The close calls added to the atmosphere on the day.
“There was a lot of excitement on the court,” Mr Chesterton said.
“Everyone was really hyped up because it was grand final day. There were kids and supporters on the sidelines cheering for friends and family members.”
On the day, 24 divisions from 15 clubs in the association competed for titles.
In division two, Bankstown Blues defeated Picnic Point 52-39.
The grand final blows the full-time whistle on the club’s winter competition.
But the off season will be just as busy.
Three teams from the association will go into the night inter-district competition this September.
In October, the club’s six-week summer introduction begins as well as the Bankstown Koori Cup.
