What do you get when you invite the state’s largest multiple birth club to a Christmas do? Five sets of triplets and 85 sets of twins, of course.

Southern Sydney Multiple Birth Association (SSMBA) hosted its annual Christmas celebrations at Panania Diggers Club last week, an event made extra special with the club also celebrating its 45th anniversary.

Ninety families came together to mark the milestone with plenty of entertainment for children as well as an appearance by Santa.

SSMBA Liverpool representative, Anita Leggatt, was thrilled with the turnout.

“It was really incredible ... seeing the older kids (and) knowing that they got through that hard baby stage and toddler stage and they got to the other side,” she said.

The part-time teacher, 25, has twins of her own — four-month-old Hunter and Noah — along with son William and stepson Matthew, both aged three.

Life can be hectic but the key was teamwork, she said.

“There’s a lot of work involved — how do you feed them both at the same time, make sure everything is done around the house ... the pressure it puts on your family.”

Ms Leggatt’s advice for anyone expecting multiple births is to seek support and “take it one step at a time”.

The next Liverpool play date will be held on January 17, 2018 at Hammondville. Contact SSMBA for details on membership at ssmba@amba.org.au.
