A furniture removalist accused of punching and slamming an elderly woman’s head against the wall at a southwest Sydney emergency department has been charged with murder.

Richard Po Lun Lim has been hit with an additional charge following his arrest at Bankstown Hospital after he allegedly assaulted three women on January 4.

Police allege Lim assaulted two women – aged 63 and 58 – before he choked and punched an 80-year-old woman, Samira Kamaleddine, hitting her head against the wall of the emergency department.

Ms Kamaleddine fought for her life in a critical condition after she was rendered unconscious before she died five weeks later on February 9.

Court documents state between January 4 and February 9 Ms Kamaleddine was murdered by Lim. He was charged with the fifth offence of murder on March 22.

Lim, who was a patient at the hospital, had his matter heard at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday where his lawyer made no application for bail and requested for an eight week adjournment. No pleas were entered.

The prosecutor did not oppose Lim’s lawyers request as they were still waiting for a “time frame from the coroner” for their report into the alleged incident.

Lim was originally charged with two choking offences, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Magistrate Christopher Halburd granted the adjournment for August 8 at Burwood Local Court.
