THE propeller that fell off a Rex Airlines flight on Friday, has been found in Revesby.
The Saab 340 was carrying 16 passengers from Albury last week, when it was forced to make an emergency landing at Sydney Airport after its 100kg propeller detached.
At midday today, a NSW PolAir helicopter located the missing part in bushland off The River Road in Revesby.
Authorities initially believed that the propeller might have fallen off above Wollondilly shire or Campbelltown.
Bankstown police are currently on scene and have set up a crime scene in the bushland.
The police are working with the Australian Transport Safety Bureau to safely recover the item as inquiries into Friday’s incident continue.
The ATSB investigation team will examine the propeller assembly to determine the contributing factors that led to its detachment from the aircraft.
ATSB Chief Commissioner Greg Hood thanked NSW Police for their ongoing cooperation with locating and recovering the propeller.
More to come.
