A Sydney real estate agent was busted hiding cocaine in his underpants after he was taken into custody for standing outside a house in the middle of the night.
Bondi Junction man Theodore Penemenos, 31, pleaded guilty in Bankstown Local Court on Thursday to possessing drugs and possessing suspected stolen goods, but was not sentenced due to an application to have the matters dismissed on mental health grounds.
Court documents state Penemenos, whose occupation was also listed as a real estate agent, had previously pleaded not guilty to the two charges on May 15, 2024.
Agreed facts tendered to the court state police came across Penemenos when they were called to a home in Padstow Heights at 1am on May 14, 2024, to reports of a man outside.
While speaking with Penemenos, police found he had a woman’s passport and could not explain why.
The document states Penemenos was found to be in breach of earlier bail conditions and he was taken into custody at Bankstown Police Station.
Penemenos spent the night in the cells and the next morning was spotted fidgeting with something in the front pocket of his jumper before placing it on the bench behind him.
He stood up, put his back to the CCTV cameras and placed one leg on the seat in front of him, appearing to fiddle with his “groin and upper leg area” while repeatedly looking over his shoulder, documents state.
Police questioned what he was doing and he responded that he was “playing with his penis”.
He was removed from the dock and was seen taking the item on the bench behind him and trying to hide it in his underwear.
Police noticed a lump on his hip area and said they intended to search him, which resulted in a minor tussle between them.
Police then found a small sealable bag containing 9.4g of cocaine.
Penemenos punched the perspex screen with his left hand several times, which the documents stated resulted in a broken finger and a trip to Bankstown Hospital.
Penemenos, who remains on bail, will return to court on July 24 where the mental health application will be heard.
