A MAN has been charged two years after a Sydney mother of two died in a horror car crash in Sydney’s southwest.
Gina Abdallah, 38, was in the passenger seat of a Mitsubishi EVO at 11am on August 7, 2016 when it collided with a Honda CRV on Warwick St in Punchbowl.
Police allege the 40-year-old male driver fled the scene of the smash before Ms Abdallah died of her injuries at Liverpool Hospital.
An extensive investigation which involved CCTV footage revealing the horrific moment of the crash led officers to charge a man on Monday.
He has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop and assist after a car crash causing death, stealing a motor vehicle and taking and driving a conveyance without the owner’s consent.
The man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on July 5.
CCTV footage shows the man, who was first questioned by police in 2016, collecting his belongings from the crashed car before walking away.
Ms Abdallah’s mother Areti said in 2016, her daughter was a “beautiful girl” with a heart of gold.
“She was a good mother, a beautiful person, her heart was gold. She help people, even if she got five dollars she give to someone. She was very soft, always smile, joking,” Mrs Abdallah said.

“I don’t know why my daughter’s gone. I locked her room, I don’t want to know nothing. “You can’t believe what a beautiful girl she was, everyone loved her.
“She dressed her kids up nice. Took the kids shopping three weeks ago. I said ‘why so many clothes?’ she said ‘don’t worry mum they are my kids’.
Friend Donna Conway said at the time Ms Abdallah would live on forever in her children.
“(She is) survived by her two adoring children and her loving husband, loving brother and sisters and parents,” Ms Conway posted online.
“There are many shattered hearts and empty souls mourning your loss Gina. You left two beautiful legacies behind, so proud of what you achieved
“You will live on forever in your children. Deepest heartfelt sympathy to all family and friends of this vivacious, beautiful young lady Gina, her smile would light up a room, and your heart. Gone, but never forgotten.”
