Police allegedly find guns, knives, ammunition, stun device at Punchbowl home

Police have charged a Punchbowl man with firearm-related offences after allegedly finding two guns, knives, blades, ammunition and an electronic stun device at this home yesterday.

A PUNCHBOWL man has been charged with firearm-related offences after police allegedly found two guns, knives, blades, ammunition and an electronic stun device at his home yesterday.

Campsie Police and South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad conducted a firearms prohibition order search of a home on Belair St, Punchbowl around 7pm.

“Upon searching the home, police seized two firearms, a number of knives and blades, ammunition, an electronic stun device, and capsules believed to contain anabolic steroids,” a police spokesman said.

“A 51-year-old man was arrested at the home, and taken to Campsie Police Station.”

The spokesman said he was charged with two counts of possess unauthorised firearm, two counts of not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition without holding permit, firearm found at premises — subject to prohibition order, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

Police said the man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Thursday).
