Mohammed Dib: Yagoona dial-a-dealer’s one-man Sydney cocaine operation revealed

A young dial-a-dealer from Yagoona has been has been sentenced in court for what police described as an extensive and lengthy one-man operation.

Sydney's cocaine crisis

A young dial-a-dealer from Yagoona has been convicted and slapped with an intensive corrections order (ICO) for what police described as a lengthy one-man operation with “scores of customers”.

He would later celebrate his non-custodial sentence in an Instagram post where he described his solicitor as the “don of all criminal lawyers”.

Mohammed Dib, 27, ran a lengthy one-man-show cocaine supply business from his Toyota Corolla across inner city Sydney, predominantly during the Covid lockdown, between June and October 2021.

Police also suspect Dib had been dealing for a “much longer period”. Police facts also showed how the 27-year-old gave the illusion to customers he was part of a much larger, sophisticated drug-supply syndicate.

“He (Dib) created the illusion of being part of a bigger syndicate,” the facts stated. “Creating the impression (to customers) that someone else was operating the mobile and order service.”

Dib appeared at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, represented by esteemed criminal solicitor Ahmed Dib, who successfully sought an ICO for his client, instead of a period behind bars.

Dib was convicted of drug supply, over an indictable amount, and for dealing with the property proceeds of crime, $11,700. He was handed a 12-month ICO and had pleaded guilty to the charges.

Dib was also ordered to pay a $770 fine for a breach of a custodial release order, the possession of prohibited substances.

On Instagram after his sentencing, Dib celebrated receiving an ICO as opposed to a period in custody, lauding Mr Ahmed Dib – who is known for defending high-profile cases – as “the don of criminal lawyers” and the “best in Sydney”.

Police facts laid bare Dib’s four-month kerbside cocaine courier service.

Between June 19 and October 1 2021, Dib made 115 supplies across Sydney, delivering 242 individual bags of cocaine, mostly weighing 0.5 grams and selling for around $250 a pop, a statement of agreed facts showed.

Police said Dib delivered to “scores of customers”. During the Covid lockdown period, he would also raise the price of a bag or increase the minimum amount a customer could buy, “to make it worth the risk”. Dib lived in an area with a Covid-related curfew and radius during this time.

Dib was apprehended by officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command’s Strike Force Kath, which had been targeting cocaine dealerships in the area.

In June 2021, police were granted permission for a mobile intercept on Dib’s number. Five times across June and October, police witnesses would then organise to buy from Dib on Judd St, Cronulla – each time they wore a listening device.

After Dib was arrested on the fifth police-arranged buy, a search of his house uncovered two freezer bags filled with a whopping total of 13 grams of cocaine, $11,7000 in cash in a safe and a plastic bag of 6.4 grams of cocaine hidden in a coffee table.

Dib’s ICO will expire on October 6 2023.
