A SYDNEY man will face court today after he was charged with a string of offences, following an alleged 20-minute carjacking rampage on Sunday.

He was charged with six offences including two counts of negligent driving.

The 30-year-old man allegedly left five cars smashed and two incinerated in Roselands.

Police allege the saga began when the man was picked up by a ride-sharing service on Archibald Avenue, Waterloo and demanded to be driven to Sydney Airport.

The police allege the saga began when the man took a ride share from Waterloo to Canterbury Rd.

During the drive, it’s alleged the man began behaving erratically and became aggressive.

The driver of the ride share sedan got out of the car and police say the 30-year-old passenger moved into the driver’s seat and drove on to King Georges Rd.

Minutes later, police said, he was involved in a crash with three other vehicles near Roselands Drive.

And then he then fled the scene, according to police, despite a victim being trapped, and sped off to Moorefields Road.

Police say the man was then in a second collision at 12.15pm, causing the two cars to erupt into flames.

The man then tried to carjack a 73-year-old female driver, but was unsuccessful, police said.

It’s alleged the man then got into the back seat of a 4WD at the intersection of Moorefields and King Georges roads, and threatened the 54-year-old driver, forcing him to drive to the airport.

The vehicle arrived at the domestic airport, where the man was arrested by police.

The 30-year-old man was placed under police guard at St George Hospital with lacerations and bruising.

He was refused bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court today.
