A man accused of a horrifying road rage incident, which resulted in the alleged victim hospitalised for more than three weeks, has faced court for the first time.
Din Decevic, 34, has been charged reckless grievous bodily harm following the incident at Peel St, Belmore on May 28.
Officers from Campsie Police Area Command received reports a 47-year-old male driver of a Hyundai Getz had been allegedly assaulted by the driver of a Ford Raptor, alleged to have been Decevic.
The older man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Decevic allegedly left the scene prior to the arrival of police.
Detectives attended a unit in Sproule St, Lakemba and arrested Decevic about 9.30pm on Monday. He was taken to Campsie police station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday.
At court, his lawyer Fadi Abbas asked for the matter to be adjourned to Friday when a release application would be made.
Decevic did not appear when the matter was briefly mentioned. No pleas were entered.
The 47-year-old man remains in a serious but stable condition at St George Hospital.
