The ultra marginal seat of Banks in Sydney’s southwest is one of the key battelegrounds in this weekend’s election.
The main players went head-to-head last night in the C anterbury-Bankstown Express’s candidate’s forum.
The seat hangs on a knife-edge, with penalty rates, franking credits, immigration and education amongst the topics that the candidates were asked to answer.
Candidates from five of the six parties had their chance to pitch their vision for the area, which is proving to be one of the tightest held Liberal seats in Sydney.
Liberal’s David Coleman is sitting at a margin of 1.4 per cent and facing a huge challenge from Labor’s Chris Gambian, who ran at the 2016 election.
Most recent bookie results have Banks Federal MP and minister for immigration Mr Coleman in front but Mr Gambian is closing the gap, having lost by 2588 votes at the 2016 election.
