Lebanese community celebrate Independence Day at Kingsgrove
KINGSGROVE Community Aid Centre celebrated the Lebanese National Day of Independence on Wednesday, with plenty of entertainment adding to the enjoyment.
KINGSGROVE Community Aid Centre celebrated the Lebanese National Day of Independence on Wednesday, with plenty of entertainment adding to the enjoyment.
The event brought together many people from many cultural backgrounds to celebrate, learn from each other and to share traditional folklore dancing and food, said Kingsgrove Community Aid services CEO Anne Farah Hill.
“It is events like this that we promote to keep people engaged with their local community and to have a little bit of fun and share delicious food together.
“Many of these people they have immigrated from Lebanon many years ago and although they now live in Australia and call Australia their home, they still retain a sense of identity and affinity with their mother homeland.
“The Independence of Lebanon signified a new unified Lebanon of new beginning and new hope.
“Overall the day was very successful as it brought people together in a positive way and if it makes people happy, then that’s what resilient communities are all about.”
