A Condell Park man was kicked out of a popular southwest Sydney pub after he flew into a violent rage, beating another patron repeatedly on the head, a court was told.

Henry Winterbottom appeared at Bankstown Local Court on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to assault.

Court documents state the 36-year-old was sitting at a table with a group of unknown men in the TAB area of the High Flyer Hotel in Condell Park, about 5.30pm on February 20, when Hassan Daoud approached the group.

Daoud shook Winterbottom’s hand before one of the unknown men asked for his name to which he replied “Hass”.

The man then said “Hass? You’re the one that said my daughter is going to hell” with Daoud replying “what are you talking about?”, court documents state.

Suddenly, Winterbottom vaulted from his seat and unleashed a volley of punches to Daoud’s head, neck and jaw.

Winterbottom pinned Daoud against a door, kicking him twice before witnesses and staff members were able to pull the pair apart.

Court documents reveal that the pub manager told Winterbottom and his father to leave the premises with police arriving shortly after the two left.

CCTV footage capturing the incident was provided to police with Winterbottom arrested at his father’s Condell Park home later that evening.
He was taken to Bankstown police station where he declined an interview.

Magistrate Shane McAnulty told Winterbottom on Thursday that he was “lucky” the incident hadn’t escalated any further or caused serious harm.

Winterbottom was ultimately convicted by Mr McAnulty who handed him a two-year community correction order.

He must be of good behaviour and undertake any required drug, alcohol or mental health programs.
