Federal Election 2019: Reporter’s fight to save works burger from this very savvy cockatoo
I always knew covering elections were never boring because you never know what to expect, specially on polling day.
I always knew covering elections were never boring because you never know what to expect, specially on polling day.
The fine people manning the democracy sausage at Panania Public School boast their works burger is the best, along with the other food they cater too on polling day.
And this has just been confirmed, not only by me, but by a wily cockatoo, who could not resist the works burger for which I had just paid $6.
I had just bought the mouth-watering work burger and had planned to finish it off after I filed some copy, so I had placed it in a plastic container on the garden table.
There were two cockatoos on the railings next to the seat and one of them hopped down and came to the container and then took off the lid like it was something it does regularly.
It was the first time this had happened to me and it was really funny as I not only had to film it but try to prevent this whole mouth watering burger being toppled over.
In the end, the bird and I came to a compromise: I would feed it parts of the bread and I could finish off my snags, bacon, and eggs in peace.
