Traditional Italian restaurant Enzo’s Cucina will open its doors in Panania on Monday, with a scotch whiskey room a unique feature of the Enzo’s group’s 11th restaurant.
Founder and executive chef Enzo Marturano’s grandmother and mum Antonia’s dishes are very much part of the restaurants’ food offering — Antonia makes the meatballs for all of the restaurants. The family firm started off with its first restaurant in Chipping Norton in 2010. Mr Marturano said he got into the restaurant business because of his uncle.
From Monday, the family-owned and run restaurant brings quality Italian food to Panania, as well as a private scotch room, featuring 300 types from around the world.
“The scotch room is the first across our chain because we want to try something different in Panania,” Mr Marturano said.
“There is nothing like this out in the west.
“Customers can either enjoy their scotch in the room or have it while dining.
“We have some whiskeys which are not easily available and my current favourite is the Italian one, Puni, which is a bit sweet.
“I love drinking scotch and always unwind after my long day with a good scotch.”
NEW PANANIA INVENTION A BIG HELP FOR PARENTS
He said barrels of Canadian Club, which date back to the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, are among the rare whiskeys they are stocking.
The father of two, who lives in Chipping Norton, said the reason his chain is successful is because of the passion his family and staff put into the restaurants.
His wife Erin, sisters Catarina and Rosetta are all involved in the running of the restaurants along with other relatives.
