Elderly man in critical condition after hit and run in Greenacre

An elderly pedestrian seriously injured in a Sydney hit-and-run will require multiple surgeries. Police are calling for public help to find the person responsible.

Police are calling for public assistance after an elderly pedestrian suffered serious injuries to his pelvis following a hit-and-run in Sydney’s south west in May.

Emergency services were called to Wattle Street at Greenacre following reports a man had been hit by a car after 7pm on May 16.

Bankstown Highway Patrol officers arrived to find a 72-year-old man had been struck by a white Toyota Hilux, which initially stopped at the crash scene but left shortly after without offering help to the injured man.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition with injuries to his lower limbs.

A crime scene was set up and police found CCTV footage that may have captured the ute involved in the crash.

They suspect the vehicle is a white Toyota Hilux with a chrome silver sports bar on the rear and a chrome nudge bar.

The man suffered extensive injuries to his pelvis which will require numerous surgeries.

Footage located by police show a number of other men in separate vehicles at the scene.

Police wish to speak to these people as they believe they may be able to assist with the investigation.
