Police are appealing for information after two pedestrians were hit by a car in western Sydney on Wednesday afternoon, leaving one person in a critical condition.
Emergency services were called at about 4pm to Beamish Street, Campsie, after reports of two elderly pedestrians being struck by a Toyota Prado.
The 83-year-old woman was treated at the scene by paramedics and was transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the woman suffered head injuries from the incident, having potentially hit her head on the pavement when being knocked down by the car, which was reportedly driving at a low speed.
The second pedestrian – an 85-year-old man – was also treated by paramedics and was taken to the same hospital in a stable condition.
The driver of the Toyota, a 42-year-old woman, was left uninjured. She was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a negative result.
Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended and have since commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with information about or dashcam footage of the incident to contact Campsie Police Station on (02) 9784 9399 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
