Laura Francis took over the salon two years ago and continued to build it to where it is today – now one of Sydney’s best.

Starting in the industry a decade ago, hairdressing was something Laura always wanted to do.

She said she enjoys “making everyone feel happy with their hair” and said good communication skills were crucial to the role.

“It comes down to doing good consultations – that’s the number one thing for people when they’re looking for a hairdresser; someone who will listen to them,” she said.

Laura said she was “a bit shocked” to learn her salon had been named among the best in Sydney.

Elyse was one of the many clients who nominated Maddie’s for the top nod, describing the salon as “hands down the best in Sydney”.

“Amazing friendly staff and owner,” she said.

“Fantastic prices and brilliant service.”

A new name and a new owner has seen this Menai salon continue to grow from strength to strength.

Formerly known as Colour Co, Tehlia Davis bought the business two years ago and changed the name to Tee Hair Co last July.

Taking on a business has been a “lot of had work” but Tehlia said she loved every minute.

“I have an amazing team under me, which makes it a lot easier that’s for sure,” she said.

The hard work has paid off, with Tee Hair Co now named one of the best salons in southern Sydney.

“It makes me very proud of myself because I’ve worked really hard to build the salon to where it is now,” she said.

A hairdresser for seven years, Tehlia enjoys the “ability to make people happier”.

“I grew up wanting to be a hairdresser my entire life,” she said.

She enjoys the relationships with clients and the creative side of the job, and is known for her expertise in colouring.

Nadine was one of the many clients who nominated Tee Hair Co as the best salon in Sydney and said she “highly recommends” them.

“Tee Hair Co are amazing stylists in design, colour, cuts etc,” she said.

“They support emergency services and local communities.”

Tucked away in a quiet suburban Miranda street, Charmagne Lorraine Hair has made a name for itself since opening last August.

With loads of natural light, the salon provides the perfect atmosphere for customers.

“Everyone that walks through the salon always says what a beautiful vibe and feeling they get when they walk through the door,” owner Charmagne said.

Charmagne said her favourite part of being a hairdresser was the relationships she has built with her clients.

“Everyone that comes in, all their different stories, all the things I hear – just that people can trust me,” she said.

Many Charmagne Lorraine clients said they leave the salon feeling confident and happy.

Kylie nominated Charmagne as the best hairdresser in Sydney and said she provided “invaluable advice and treatment”.

“Charmagne isn’t just a hairdresser, she’s an expert in what she does,” she said.

Relocating his salon to Sydney’s south – more than 60km from the CBD – has not slowed down the high demand for Steven Rasitti’s services.

The passionate hairdresser has made quite the impression on the Spring Farm community in the little time since his business opened in 2018.

Steven, who also has loyal clients from his former Newtown salon who are willing to travel to see him, said the business’ rapid growth has been a career highlight.

“We went from me opening the salon by myself just over 18 months ago to now being booked out six weeks in advance with four staff,” he said.

While making sure their clients walk away with amazing hair is something that the team at Steven Michael Hair take very seriously, Steven said the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere at the salon was paramount to its success.

“We are a group of friends,” he said.

“We’ve followed each other to every salon that we’ve worked at for the last six or seven years so there is a close family vibe.”

Helping brides look and feel incredible on their wedding day is also a big passion for Steven that has taken him all over the country.

“We’ve been everywhere. I’ve done weddings all over Australia, I’ve done a Fiji wedding,” he said.

“We are a lucky to get a lot of shout outs on social media.”

Now Steven Michael Hair can add the best salon in Sydney to its list of achievements.

The salon was voted into the top spot by many loyal clients.

Jenny nominated them as the best in town said the salon was “professional but chilled, helpful but not bossy, friendly but not fake”.

“You get to have a coffee and a laugh,” she said.
