A southwest Sydney woman on bail for four different charges has been busted with multiple drugs — and unexpected IDs — after walking into a police station.
Angela Yazgan, 41, from Regents Park was on bail facing larceny, possession, and drug supply charges when she walked into Bass Hill police station on February 11.
She was there to check in and comply with her bail terms, but was clearly intoxicated, according to a police fact sheet previously tendered in court.
Yazgan was supposed to be abstaining from drugs and alcohol, and police requested that she take a drug test, which came up positive for cocaine and methamphetamine.
Police say she admitted to using the drugs a week earlier, and they then requested to search the car she arrived in.
When searching the car, they found a litany of drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, GHB and heroin.
Along with the drugs were multiple resealable plastic bags, two magnetised containers, and small scales, which police allege were used to supply drugs.
Police seized Yazgan’s phone, and unearthed text messages including “Hey all, can anyone deliver K to Kingsgrove?” and “can I still get pls”.
When Yazgan’s wallet was searched by police, they also found two Medicare cards that did not belong to her, according to agreed police facts.
When questioned by police, she first told them they belonged to work colleagues, then in a second interview said she had found them at a Covid-19 testing clinic, and was holding on to them to return them.
Yazgan faced nine charges in total, including three charges of drug possession, three of drug supply, deal with proceeds of crime, and two charges of being in possession of stolen property charges.
She pleaded guilty to the stolen property, and not guilty to the others in a previous court hearing.
At a recent appearance at Bankstown Local Court, Yazgan’s bail conditions were amended, while the court heard police and prosecutors are in discussions to potentially withdraw the supply charges.
Her case will be heard again on March 17, 2023.
