Even a slight change from his treatment for an aggressive cancer means the world to 12-year-old Jason Braniff and his family who need all the support they can get, having also lost their house in a fire.
After hearing of the brave youngster’s battle with cancer, Bankstown Sports stepped in to offer him and his family at an all-expenses-paid two-night stay at Travelodge Hotel Bankstown plus hours of fun at the club.
Jason was delighted beyond words at his Bankstown Sports experience, saying: “Thank you, thank you. thank you. This place is incredible. I am way too excited.”
The Braniffs have had a very tough 12 months, first losing their home in a fire before hearing the devastating news about Jason.
Because of all this, Greg and Sharon had to put off their wedding plans, having earlier planned to exchange vows on May 4.
In March, Jason was diagnosed with the rare acute myeloblastic leukaemia (AML inversion 16) and his family, including parents Greg and Sharon and sister Lara, 8, moved from Griffith to be close to him during his treatment at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
Jason’s older sister Taylor is staying with relatives back home because she is doing her HSC.
Jason is undergoing chemotherapy and is about to go into isolation for 100 days.
On Friday, July 26, Jason and his family were brought to Bankstown Sports by the team at Little Wings and enjoyed unlimited access to the club’s entertainment facilities, including Turbo Climb, Monkey Mania, Arcade Alley and PZE.
The club also provided them with dining vouchers for all restaurants in the club plus ice cream and treats from Baskin Robbins and San Churro Bankstown.
His mum Sharon could not thank Bankstown Sports and its partners enough for their priceless gift to them.
“It’s just so overwhelming to receive so much,” she said.
“The kids are absolutely loving it, and to see them smile just means so much to Greg and I.
“We just wish Taylor could be here too – she’d love this place.”
Sister Lara said she was glad she was able to spend quality time with Jason before he leaves for more intense treatment.
