A LUCKY tradie is now $5 million richer after he purchased a $2 Keno ticket from Revesby Workers’ Club.
The 52-year-old diesel mechanic, who wished to be known as Sam, bought a ticket in the Keno Mega Millions jackpot for the first time last Saturday night.
He went home, slept and it wasn’t until the next day he thought: “I’ve got a ticket, I better go and check it”.
The Holsworthy man strolled into Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club to check his ticket with his girlfriend, but couldn’t believe the news.
“When they say I’ve won, I think maybe I’m in a dream,” he said.
He took home $5,148,141 — but last week was yet to adapt to his new lifestyle.
He turned up for work on Monday, and was keeping his goals attainable.
“I’d really just like a kebab for lunch,” he said.
Sam plans to use the money to marry his partner and take her on a honeymoon to Paris. He will also hopes to pay off his mortgage and eventually start his own business.
“I’ll keep working another couple of months then maybe I’ll start something of my own,” Sam said.
“I’m interested in technology, so I’m going to have time to see what I want to do.”
His win was the third Keno over last weekend across NSW and QLD — with a record $8 million given away between Friday night and Sunday morning.
