A multimillion-dollar two-storey medical centre has received the green light to transform a residential home into a state-of-the-art health facility in Sydney’s southwest.
Liverpool Council approved the $2.6m plans lodged by Myra Sav which will see five consulting rooms on the ground floor and two day surgery rooms on the first floor at 257-259 Green Valley Rd, Green Valley.
According to South Western Sydney Primary Health Network, the southwest Sydney population is expected to grow by a third between 2016 and 2031.
The Liverpool area is expected to have the highest population increase, particularly in the demographic of 65 years or older growing from 127,000 to 221,000 between 2016 and 2031.
The future “Green Valley Health Centre” facility will service the growing population and will be built 1.4km away from the Green Valley Village Shopping Centre.
The 305sq m ground floor of the building will have consultation rooms, a reception area, waiting rooms and amenities.
“While there are five consulting rooms, this does not equate to five medical practitioners, as a waiting patient will be taken to one of the rooms waiting consultation,” planning documents state.
The first floor will have a total area of 275sq m and contain a staffroom, administration area, two surgery rooms and patient waiting area.
The facility will operate Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 6.00pm, Saturday 8.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday 9.00am to 4.00pm.
A total of five staff will be at the medical centre and a total of 21 carparking spaces will be available for staff and patients.
Planning documents recognise the new development will “provide significant benefits” for the growing suburb and community over the long term.
“The proposed development strengthens health related services … and serves to further the public interest in this regard with access to medical services within the immediate area,” documents state.
