The Sutherland Shire now has the NSWs eighth-highest rate of coronavirus as the number of confirmed cases continued to climb across the state.

Sydney’s eastern suburbs are still primarily responsible for the highest rate of infection in the South East Sydney Local Health District, but the Sutherland Shire is still recording substantially higher rates than communities over the bridge in St George.

There are now 469 confirmed cases across the entire SESLHD, with 140 cases in Waverley and 79 in Woollahra.

The Sutherland Shire is recording 59 cases, followed by 33 in Georges River and 32 in Bayside.

In Waverley, 21 coronavirus cases were caught locally from unknown sources, while nine Shire residents also caught it from unknown sources.

Nine people in Georges River caught coronavirus from unknown sources, while eight in both Bayside and Woollahra could not be traced.

The SESLHD continues to be the worst affected region in NSW, which now has 2032 confirmed cases in total.

New public health orders were formalised overnight to enforce social distancing across the state, with anyone who flouts regulations risking jail time or an $11,000 fine.

Here are the only 16 reasons NSW residents will be allowed out of the house.
