A Sydney man threw a cup of McDonald’s Coke through his window at a fellow driver after he was racially abused and called a “stupid wog” at a service station last year.
Ismael Ahmed, 36, was verbally attacked after he inadvertently cut off another man, Perry Brooks, at 7/11 in Sutherland on September 10.
The agreed police facts stated Brooks called Ahmed a “stupid wog” and drove aggressively behind him before Ahmed threw the Coke through the victim’s open car window, splattering him.
Magistrate Jayeann Carney convicted Ahmed of common assault at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
“He felt racially vilified,” Ms Carney said.
“He was upset and acted without thinking, but he should not have allowed it to upset him to the extent that he did.”
Ahmed made full admissions to officers at Sutherland police station and stated Brooks had followed him, “beeping his horn and flashing his lights”.
“This continued for about five minutes and then the accused admitted to throwing the Coke at the victim,” the agreed police facts stated.
“The accused said “he called me a stupid wog and it made upset.”
