A “rebellious rat pack” is creating a glamorous 50s-style small bar tucked away beneath the redeveloped Cronulla cinemas.
Carl and Brooke Jensen of Jensen’s in Kareela and Summer Salt in Cronulla have partnered with cocktail expert Josh Metcalfe to create Papa J’s.
The small bar is transforming a defunct restaurant on the Kingsway underneath Cronulla Cinemas, which has also been completely renovated by new owners Hoyts.
“Located underneath the revamped Hoyts Cinemas, this immersive cocktail bar offers a luxurious experience for the discerning drinker,” the team stated.
“Step back in time, to a world of class and style – have a tipple at the bar or a refined drink in the lounge.”
Metcalfe’s drinks menu will focus on signature cocktails, boutique wines and craft beers, while Carl Jensen’s bar menu will include sophisticated small plates with seasonal produce.
Brooke Jensen will focus on a classy front of house service and table service to make “every customer feel like a movie star”.
“Swing into Papas and immediately you are taken back to a bygone era of glitz, glamour and a little bit of paparazzi,” the team stated.
“Conveying a sophisticated tone of a 1950s Vegas lounge bar, you will feel right at home sipping a dirty martini at the marble bar.”
The bar is yet to confirm an opening date but will be mixing up martinis seven days a week from noon until midnight.
