NSW bush fires: Fire breaks out in Royal National Park at Loftus
Loftus and Kirawee residents are being told to remain alert after a bushfire broke out in the Royal National Park.

A fire ripping through bushland in Sydney’s south has now been contained.
Firefighters rushed to be ready to fight for homes if the southerly took hold of a bushfire which broke out in the Royal National Park.
NSW Fire and Rescue and volunteer firefighters from Loftus, Menai, Matraville, Heathcote and Engadine surrounded homes in Sutherland, Kirrawee and Loftus as fire took hold in dense bushland in Loftus south of Sydney.
The fire level was downgraded to advice.
There were reports of at least three distinct fires inside the bush and the RFS Commissioner has described the fire as “clearly suspicious”.
Several police cars have been seen speeding around the scene with lights and sirens for the past hour.
Residents are spilling into the streets lit alternately with red and blue flashing lights and the glow of early Christmas decorations as they anxiously await an update on the situation.
