AN 11-year-old boy allegedly suffered three years of sexual abuse at the hands of a man who owned a chain of popular movie theatres in Sydney’s south.

Former Mecca cinema owner Phillip Doyle, 75, faced Sutherland Local Court today charged with 12 counts of indecent assault and child pornography related to several alleged incidents in Como and Sans Souci between August 2007 and August 2009.

Court documents reveal Doyle is accused of repeatedly sexually kissing a boy who was aged just 11 at the time.

When the boy was 12 police allege Doyle forcibly stroked and stimulated the boy’s genitals with his hand.

Police also allege Doyle produced child pornography by forcing the boy to lay on a sunbed and photographing him.

The indecent assaults allegedly continued until the boy was 14.

Doyle was also charged with an additional count of indecent assault against a second male, who was aged 15 at the time, at Kogarah in 1982.

St George police officers reactivated Strike Force Beantree, which was first established in 2009, to investigate the new complaints made against Doyle in August.

Doyle, who owned the Mecca movie cinemas in Hurstville and Kogarah in the 80s and 90s, is currently serving a jail sentence for previous child sex convictions.

He will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
