A man has been charged with alleged sexual offences spanning eight years and several suburbs.

A man has been charged with several sexual offences dating back eight years after an extraordinary investigation which used DNA to connect him to the alleged crimes.

On September 19 2011, a 41-yer-old woman was walking home with a friend along Gibson Ave in Padstow when a man allegedly approached her from behind and indecently assaulted her.

He fled the scene and police were contacted.

On September 21 2011, a 39-year-old woman was allegedly grabbed from behind, knocked to the ground and indecently assaulted as she walked along Maher St, Hurstville.

She screamed for her help before the man fled and police were contacted.

Despite extensive investigations at the time, no one was charged over the incidents.

More than eight years later on November 6 this year, a 29-year-old woman was allegedly sexually touched by a man while on an escalator at Town Hall railway station.

She confronted him before he allegedly ran towards the Queen Victoria Building exit.

A forensic examination of the woman’s clothing led police to a 26-year-old man at a Caledonian St home in Bexley on November 22.

He was charged with sexual touching and granted strict conditional bail before the forensic examination allegedly linked the man to the 2011 indecent assault allegations.

Following further inquiries by St George detectives, the man was arrested and charged with indecent assault and attempted sexual intercourse without consent yesterday.

He was refused bail to face Sutherland Local Court today.
