A wealthy party boy who runs his own promotions company has faced court over allegations he was dealing drugs from his parents’ luxurious waterfront mansion.

James Mina, 23, hosted a lavish boat party on Sydney Harbour just weeks ago to celebrate his birthday.

But he’s spent the last six days behind bars having been arrested last Friday (February 14).

Police will allege that on February 13, Mina dealt cocaine and MDMA at his parents’ swanky Sylvania Waters home before a subsequent police raid allegedly uncovered $2300 cash, anabolic steroid Oxandrolone, Somatropin human growth hormone and a prohibited weapon.

He was granted bail by Magistrate Les Mabbutt at Sutherland Local Court - but only after his parents offered up a $1.2 million investment property in exchange for his liberty.

His sister and a family friend, who is a solicitor, also contributed $15,000 as a security and he surrendered his passport to police.

A solicitor told the court Mina’s alleged offences involved only small amounts of drugs and a custodial sentence was not an absolute certainty.

The court heard Mina has no criminal history prior to these charges.

“What is suggested, if it results in a plea of guilty, is street-level supplying,” Mina’s solicitor stated.

“It’s at the lower end of objective seriousness, they are small quantities.”

Mina’s time in a prison cell represented a significant change of scenery for the budding event promoter, who only weeks ago was celebrating his birthday with a lavish party on a Sydney Harbour cruise boat with dozens of attendees.

The court heard Mina is employed full time as a trainer at Fitness First but he also moonlights as a party promoter with his own company - MisdeMina.

“MisdeMina - a minor wrongdoing,” Mina wrote on his business page.

“Bringing you the hottest parties in Sydney.”

Mina hosted his first ever club event in February 2019 - a party called Playhouse at Slide in Darlinghurst.

The court heard Mina, who has no criminal record, was cooperative with police when he was arrested at his parents’ home.

He unlocked his phone for officers, which was seized along with a car allegedly fitted with secret compartments.

He will return to Sutherland Local Court on March 10.
