Police allege a young woman broke into a southern Sydney supermarket at 3am and stole 100 packets of cigarettes and bottles of alcohol in a doomed endeavour which has landed her behind bars on remand.

A young woman is behind bars on remand as police allege she was involved in the theft of 100 packets of cigarettes and bottles of alcohol from an IGA in a sleepy beachside town in Sydney.
Police allege Talea Rose Ellis, 20, was involved in a significant theft at Bundeena IGA in the early hours of February 13, allegedly making off with 100 cigarette packs and loose bottles of alcohol.
The Corrimal woman has now pleaded not guilty to aggravated break and enter in company involving a theft worth less than $60,000 and will face a five-day trial on July 26 at Downing Centre District Court.
She will next return to court on June 4 for a readiness hearing.
Ellis also faces a back-up charge of having suspected stolen goods on her premises.
In September last year Ellis was calm as she appeared on screen from Mary Wade Correctional Centre in prison greens after her bail was revoked in August.
