Bones found in Royal National Park: police investigation

Police are investigating after a passing driver discovered bones in Sydney’s south last weekend.

Police are investigating after a passing driver discovered bones in Sydney’s south on Saturday afternoon.

Police say a man had stopped to relieve himself on the side of Sir Bertram Stevens Dr between Garie Rd and McKell Ave in the Royal National Park when he saw the bones at 4.45pm on September 22.

Sutherland Shire police established a crime scene before a co-ordinated search took place the following day.

The remains will be forensically examined to determine whether they are human.
