A beloved Sutherland Shire bar’s request to keep the party kicking until the wee hours has now been decided by the local council. What do you think of the decision?

The party will keep going until the wee hours at Cronulla’s beloved whisky bar after the council approved its application for extended trading hours.

Blind Bear at 28 Cronulla St applied to Sutherland Shire Council to extend its trading hours from midnight or 1am to 2am every night of the week from Monday to Sunday.

The application has now been approved by the council on a 12-month trial basis.

Under the proposal last drinks would continue to be served at midnight from Monday to Thursday, and at 1am Saturday to Monday.

There will also be a lockout meaning patrons can stay inside until 2am, but cannot enter the bar any later than 12.30am.

The bar offers Australian craft beer, cocktails, whisky, premium spirits and bar food on two levels of their speak-easy-style establishment in Cronulla’s main street.

The bar moved to a two-level configuration after the owners closed a short-lived dumpling restaurant for double the whisky-drinking fun.

Here’s what else is happening in the Sutherland Shire and St George bar scene.
